About

As a designer, I try to use my passion for art and self-expression in conjunction with the skills and strategies I have gained so far at BU to successfully engage my target and deliver my message in a non-intrusive way. I read somewhere that advertising is one part art and one part business. I could not agree more.

advertising is one part art and one part business

This webisite showcases my ever-growing collection of fine art, and the beginnings of my portfolio of graphic arts pieces and advertisements. I’m a 20-year-old junior in Boston University’s College of Communication working towards a degree in Mass Communications concentrating in Advertising, and a minor in visual arts from the College of Fine Arts.

I grew up in Springfield, Massachusetts participating in sports and continue to as a member of BU’s Women’s Swim Team; but my passion was always art. I frequently locked myself away in my room doodling this or that; I aspire to utilize my passion and hone my skills in design and turn it into a career I can enjoy.

Swimming

Rhett - BU Mascot

I love the competitive atmosphere of collegiate athletics, but what has kept me on the swim team for so long is the feeling of being a part of a team, especially one composed of highly motivated and talented athletes from around the world. I am a third year member of Boston University’s Varsity Women’s Swim Team. I have made my best college friends on this team, and most of my memories from college so far have been linked to the team or its members in one way or another. In fact, I had a hard time adjusting to college my freshmen year, if it were not for some friendly faces on the swim team, I might not still be at BU today. No one who has never competed in serious athletics will understand the bond that forms between two or more athletes when they are putting their hearts and souls into a practice or race. It’s poetic and I lack the skill and talent to give it justice with words. I can only feel it.

Springfield

Journal

So what if it has been named one of the top 25 most dangerous cities in the country? (I happened to leave that little bit of information out of my travel article.) It’s still where I grew up so it holds a special place in my heart. I mean, you haven’t really lived until you’ve seen a good fight or been too afraid to drive through a certain area of town with your doors unlocked. But seriously, no one better talk badly about it in front of me. We do have Dr. Seuss, The Basketball Hall of Fame, and Smith and Wesson (okay, no one’s excited about that last one.) So come visit sometime (at your own risk).
